Purchase Ledger Assistant

The Role
This position is ideal for someone with extensive experience gained in various Purchase Ledger roles and looking to join a busy finance department.
The role will require the candidate to work closely alongside and support the rest of the purchase ledger team in the day to day running of the section.
The successful candidate will be responsible for managing their own supplier accounts.
In order to work effectively in a changing environment, flexibility is required from the post holder. This may be that other tasks are undertaken and/or location of base may change. These will be within the same level of responsibility and terms and conditions of employment.
Key Duties & Responsibilities
* Process high volumes of supplier invoices
* Resolve queries with suppliers and internal staff promptly to ensure invoices are available for payment selection within their credit terms
* Assist with the preparation of weekly payment runs.
* Reconcile supplier statements monthly and resolve any differences on a regular basis.
* Assist with the closing of the purchase ledger by the month end deadline.
* Process purchase ledger direct debit entries ensuring that amounts are reconciled to payment schedules or direct debit mandates at all times.
* Review and process employee expenses highlighting any concerns or irregular transactions to the Finance Manager.
* Process and manage electronic filing of relevant documents.
* Setting up new supplier accounts
* To assist in covering other team members on leave to ensure the smooth running of the section
* Other ad hoc duties associated with the purchase ledger team.
* Adhere to the company\'s internal controls.
Person Specification
Knowledge & Experience
* Thorough understanding of all aspects of Purchase Ledger
* Strong IT Skills and must be able to work with multiple systems
* Microsoft Office, especially Excel spreadsheets
* A self-starter with the ability to use own initiative as well as working effectively as part of a team.
* Strong organisational and administrative skills
* Good time management skills with ability to prioritise own workload and meet deadlines.
* A confident communicator able to resolve queries with buyers and deal with supplier queries in digitally, by telephone and face to face
Qualifications Required
* GCSE\'s grade C or above in English and Mathematics
