At DS Smith, we have an exciting opportunity to join us as a Head of Credit & Collections within our Shared Service Centre in Caerphilly to lead our Credit & Collections function and protect DS Smith's investments.

About the role

Within the role you'll be managing a Credit & Collections shared service centre team to ensure that we maintain the lowest level of trade receivables by maximising cash collection and minimising bad debt. You'll implement operational excellence and service quality by working with internal customers to ensure we have the most efficient and effective processes. The role is a hybrid of operational delivery and strategic planning and you'll balance both priorities to ensure we hit KPIs and SLAs, whilst also having one eye on the future to see where we can maximise opportunities within the team.

This role sits as part of the Shared Service Centre senior team and you'll use your leadership experience to ensure that our teams are developed and motivated to deliver on our targets. You'll put in place the right structures and measurements to determine how successful the team are whilst also looking for opportunities to see where we can stretch our targets and continuously improve our service offering.

About you


  • Proven experience of collection techniques and detailed credit risk knowledge
  • Strong leadership qualities with proven experience of developing high performing teams, and ability to influence internal customers
  • Experience of setting and measuring KPIs
  • To have held a similar role within a Shared Service team


  • Experience of heading up a function / Senior Management background
  • Strong SAP experience
