Our well-established client is recruiting for a Group Ledger Supervisor to join their company, providing support to the Group Ledger Manager and being responsible for the day-to-day management of the Purchase/Sales ledger transactions.

Responsibilities include:

* To support the day to day management of the Accounts payable and Sales ledgers of all group companies, ensuring that tasks are carried out accurately and ledgers are maintained in an effective up to date manner

* To oversee the production of weekly payment runs BACS, cheques, sundry payments and ensure that remittances are sent out via email

* To resolve telephone and written queries raised by suppliers and internal colleagues on a day to day basis

* To ensure the supplier's statement reconciliation process is adhered to and all queries are dealt with prior to sign off by the Group Ledger Manager

* To monitor the authorisation of invoices to ensure the groups liabilities are paid on time

* Oversee the processing of all Direct Debit payments on ledgers and matched off to invoices, tracking any unexplained Direct Debit payments taken from the bank

* Oversee the posting of Sales Ledger transactions and ensure that these are posted within the current financial period

* To support the Group Ledger Manager with monitoring the aged debtors and credit control responsibilities including sending account statements and debtor reminders to individual customers

* To support the ledger manager with the month/ year end closure of the Purchase and Sales ledger, ensuring that all transactions are processed at month / year end in line with the financial calendar & accrual process

* Assist with the maintenance of the Group Authorisation Matrix for expenditure

* To be aware of VAT rates and its implications to the business

* To ensure the groups monthly CIS returns are completed and paid in line with the HMRC guidelines

* Regularly review created PO's and GRN's to ensure good housekeeping and to aid the month end accrual process

Essential Criteria Required:

* At least 3 years purchase ledger experience

* Computer skills: general IT skills and excellent working knowledge of Excel (including pivot tables, lookups)

* Experience of a deadline driven environment

* Strong numerical skills with attention to detail and accuracy

Desirable Criteria:

* GCSE A*-C / 4 and above or Functional Skills Level 2 equivalent in Maths and English
