General Ledger Accountant

Job Description

We are recruiting on behalf of our client for the role of General Ledger Accountant. The client company is a global engineering organisation, a leader in the specialist fields in which it operates, with a track record of growth and profitability. This is a financial support and analysis role within the finance department. The role is mainly focus in helping month-end processes, controls and daily tasks such as; intercompany recharges, UK VAT assessment, among others.

Duties and Responsibilities

• Maintenance of general ledger accounts including month end balance sheet reconciliations, i.e. prepayments, accruals, fixed assets, others.

• Maintaining bank accounts, preparing payments and reconciling bank transactions

• Significant involvement with the month end process.

• Intercompany recharge management.

• Support in the preparation of budgets, rolling forecasts & estimates.

• Ensuring strict compliance with financial & business controls required by the Division/Group and external auditors.

• Support remediation on internal and external audit deficiencies

• Previous experience working in a Shared Service environment - Essential

• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.

• Desire and attitude to learn and develop will be key to the success of this role.

• A self-starter with an ability to think logically

• Attention to detail and accuracy

• Ability to prioritise work and work to tight deadlines

• GCSE & A-levels.

• QBE/AAT Technical

• Strong numeric background. - Essential

• Previous experience working in a finance environment - Essential

• Microsoft Office: Excel (Lookup, Pivots, etc.) - Essential

• Ability to work to deadlines

• A flexible approach and the ability to work on own initiative is essential.

• A good team player

• French language is desirable

• Ability to cope with month end reporting, tight deadlines

• Ensure good working environment within the finance team and immediate action to resolve disputes

• Partnering with Internal/External Auditors and Key UK internal business partners
