Finance Assistant -Sales Ledger

Wessex Education Shared Services has an exciting opportunity for a Finance Assistant -Sales Ledger to join their team in Bournemouth (temporarily home based). This is a full-time role offering a competitive salary of £17,188 per annum.

We provide a wide range of services to our two member colleges: Brockenhurst College and Bournemouth & Poole College. These include financial management, payroll, human resources, examinations, student records, data returns processing, and IT software development.

About our Finance Assistant -Sales Ledger role:

The purpose of this post is to provide a high-quality service to member colleges and their customers through accurate and timely processing of Sales Ledger transactions and reconciliation of debtor accounts.

As a Finance Assistant -Sales Ledger you will:

- Process sales ledger invoices/credit notes both from uploads & manual systems

- Post receipts to debtor accounts and allocate against correct invoices

- Maintain correct categorisation of debtors on a daily basis to aid debt chasing processes

- Take appropriate action to review and clear credit balances

- Complete reconciliations of sales ledger accounts

- Use and interrogate the student records system to aid in the resolution of student account queries

- Liaise with WESS colleagues and College staff to investigate and resolve queries

- Support WESS and College customers with queries via telephone and email

- Run month end debtor reports and reconcile back to main ledger

- Set up and administer Direct debit processes

- Prepare and process income from a variety of sources

What we are looking for in our Finance Assistant -Sales Ledger:

- Numerate

- Confident user of computerised accounting software

- Good Excel and Word skills

- 5 GCSE including Maths minimum grade B/6

- Methodical, accurate and have a good eye for detail

- Strong Customer service and problem-solving skills

- Commitment to getting things right and keeping them right

- Organised and able to manage workload

- Good interpersonal skills and communication skills

- Good team worker
