Finance Assistant - Purchase Ledger
Within the range of £18,801 to £20,703 per annum, pro rata.
37 hours a week for 52 weeks per year
This is an exciting opportunity to work within our Finance team providing high quality customer service supporting internal and external customers. You will have the ability to provide efficient and effective administrative support, with excellent organisational and IT skills and the ability to manage competing deadlines. You will have experience of working within a customer facing role ideally dealing with statistical or financial information.
You should enjoy working as part of a team with a good standard of education including English and Maths at a Level 2 standard or equivalent. You will also have a NVQ level 2 in ICT or a willingness to complete within a specified period.
This post is based at Suffolk New College, Ipswich Campus, however Suffolk New College is a multi-campus site and you may therefore be required to work at and travel between campuses.

Summary of Benefits, and Terms and Conditions
Location: Suffolk New College
Salary: £18,801 to £20,703
Salary Scale: Business Support Scale 4
Contract status: Permanent
Hours of work: 37 hours per week
Pension: Optional Contributory career average pension scheme in which employees contribute between 5.5% and 12.5% depending on salary.
Holiday: 20 days per annum, rising one day per year worked. Maximum 25 days, plus Bank Holidays and special closure days at Christmas/ New Year

Reporting to: Accountant
Working within the Finance team providing financial support, expertise and advice to the College.
1. Purchase Ledger requirements including scanning invoices and back up data that are received via the post onto the Finance System. Linking these to purchase orders and ensuring the continuous flow of data around the College to ensure efficient ordering and payment processes are in place.
2. Ensure appropriate housekeeping is undertaken to maintain efficient and effective systems in line with college procedures including reviewing statements, promoting prompt payment by ensuring timely authorisation and on-line filing of invoices.
3. Oversee the Purchase Ordering system to maintain the efficient receipt of goods and services into the College.
4. Supporting with the training of the apprentices and trainees within the Finance Team.
The duties of this post could vary from time to time as a result of new legislation, changes in technology or policy changes, should there be such variation, appropriate training may be given to enable the postholder to undertake the new/varied work.
Education and Qualifications
· Minimum 4 GCSEs at Grade C or above including English and Maths, or equivalent.
· NVQ Level 3 AAT or equivalent and/or willingness to study and complete within a specified period.
· NVQ level 2 in ICT or a willingness to complete within a specified period.
Knowledge and Experience
· Experience of working in a similar role in a financial environment.
· Experience of Purchase Ledger.
· Successful experience of effectively handling competing demands and deadlines.
· Good level of IT knowledge and experience, including word, excel, and databases.
· Experience of Sales Ledger
· Experience of delivering excellent customer service.
· Able to work with statistical information with accuracy.
· Solid analytical skills with the ability to create financial reports and conduct cost analyses
· The ability to undertake administrative duties efficiently, accurately with excellent attention to detail.
· Good organisational and interpersonal skills
