Employment Coach Specialist - Debt

The purpose of the Money Management Advisor is to offer advice, advocacy, and direct intervention to participants on the RESTART programme who are in challenging personal circumstances and are also experiencing problems relating to debt and budgeting.

They will take referrals from Restart Advisors and set SMART Action plans which are tracked and monitored.

The Advisor will provide participants on Restart with informed support, appropriate information and specialist advice to alleviate the additional stress generated by their financial circumstances and subsequently, allowing them to focus on getting back into Employment.

As the Money Management Advisor, you will:

  • Providing confidential advice and support to participants referred to them including
  • supporting with money management and income maximisation.
  • Managing a caseload and supporting everyone in adhering to an agreed Action Plan to
  • improve their financial situation including reviewing progress.
  • Work closely with the wider Delivery Team to adhere to the contract requirements in respect of performance outcomes, commercial compliance and quality of service
  • Liaison with third parties, as appropriate, including creditors, DWP, Job Centre Plus, landlords, utility companies etc. on behalf of the participant regarding arrears, repayment and other debt issues.
  • Providing money advice group sessions, including opening a bank or post office account,
  • budgeting, understanding credit options
  • Maintaining accurate up-to-date records of all participant cases including contact logs after every contact with the individual and/or other agencies
  • Setting up payment plans with utilities providers and submitting applications to utilities trust funds on behalf of the participant.
  • Organising informative workshops and briefings for participants
  • Ensuring data is collected and monitored to produce regular management information reports for the senior management team.
  • Submission of progress reports in accordance with GMCA contract terms detailing outputs and outcomes achieved.
  • Attending supervisory sessions and participating in quality assurance audits to ensure the quality of advice provided.
  • Keeping up to date with legislation, policies and procedures relating to casework and
  • attending relevant subject based training, briefings and networking events with the Institute of Money Advisers and other bodies

As our Restart Debt Advisor, you will have:

  • Experience of working in a fast paced, evolving environment with the ability to manage multiple priorities.
  • Experience of working in a performance target driven environment, such as business to business sales or equivalent.
  • An adept communicator with the ability to persuade, influence and listen to others.
  • Able to effectively network to build and maintain effective relationships internally and externally.
  • High level digital literacy skills, and data accuracy skills, including strong working knowledge of Microsoft Office applications and web-based communication technologies.
  • Recent experience of providing debt advice
  • The post is subject to an enhanced DBS check.
