Overview of Credit Division for EMEA (\"ECD\"):
ECD is a credit division responsible for corporate banking credit for non-Japanese corporates, non-Japanese FIs, and non- Japanese Sovereigns (collectively Global Corporates).
Its major functions are outlined as follows:

  • Assessment and management of credit risks and related risks
  • Assessment and management of country risks
  • Management of problematic assets
  • Monitoring, reporting and early action
  • Portfolio analysis and management

Main Purpose of the Role
  • To support the Head of CIB Credit for EMEA/ Co-Head of ECD, the ECD Corporate Team, Team Head and to develop and maintain a sound loan portfolio within the credit appetite of the EMEA region, and in line with regulatory requirements.
  • To assess the credit of obligors in specific sectors/ regions and make recommendations on borrower ratings and transactions for decision-making by relevant senior management.
Key Responsibilities
  • Evaluate credit risk transactions; assign internal risk ratings and size risk appetite. Make approval recommendations to senior credit risk sanctioners for approval.
  • Manage a portfolio of clients with loans and market risk exposures, including annual and periodic reviews / early warning monitoring.
  • Analyse economic, political and market events which may have an impact on the portfolio of counterparties managed. Based on the results of the analysis, make risk management recommendations or take rating actions.
  • To challenge first-line credit recommendations and proposed deals, as appropriate, within respective coverage areas to ensure maximum return and appropriate use of capital funds.
  • Ensure effective communication with all stakeholders including internal clients, external clients and within other relevant risk functions.

Work Experience
  • 7-10 years\' experience in credit risk with a focus on corporate credit analysis and a holder of sanctioning authority.
  • Strong knowledge of corporate finance, capital markets and credit / market risk principles.
  • Good product knowledge covering corporate lending, derivatives and trade finance

  • Previous experience with building financial models, scenario projections and interpretation of results.
  • Familiarity with regulatory framework in the UK (PRA, FCA), US (FED, OCC) and Europe (ECB).

Skills and Experience
Functional / Technical Competencies:
  • Strong analytical skills on how to assess a company\'s financial performance.
  • Understanding of how to assign probability of default credit ratings and LGD\'s.
  • Working knowledge of legal documentation and key credit clauses

    Education / Qualifications:
  • Bachelor Degree or equivalent (Beneficial)
  • Relevant industry accreditation (Beneficial)
