Job Title: Credit Risk Specialist
Location: Remote working for now, will be required to work in Fleet when the office reopens
Salary: £32,000-£36,000
Hours: 35 hour week, Monday to Friday, 9am to 5.00pm

About the role of Credit Risk Specialist
Our client is a Specialist Mortgage Lender who are looking for a Credit Risk Specialist to support the Credit Risk team in protecting the Company from the risk of fraud. You will also be dealing with exception cases and either approving these or referring them to the funders. Our client will be launching new Large HMO products and the successful candidate would be required to fully underwrite and offer these cases. The successful candidate would be required to ensure that all the information/intelligence received from the anti-fraud systems such as CIFAS, SIRA and Hunter are investigated and acted upon in a timely manner to reduce the risk of fraud, as well as carrying out broker reviews where intelligence has been received or where suspicions have been identified.
Responsibilities for the position of Credit Risk Specialist
· Using Anti-Fraud systems such as CIFAS, SIRA and Hunter to mitigate any potential loss.
· Investigate suspicious alerts identified by the fraud prevention systems.
· Handling inbound and outbound calls with other fraud specialists.
· Submitting suspicious documents to be verified by HMRC and the Passport Agency
· Contribute to the establishment of responsible lending in line with the company's credit risk appetite and strategic objectives.
· Develop and maintain co-operative relationships between the Underwriting and Sales Departments and investigate all referrals in a professional manner.
· Exercise personal lending discretion when assessing exceptions.
· Underwrite Large HMO/MUB cases
· Carrying out Broker reviews and liaising with Sales before removal of a Broker.
· Assist in preparing Management Reports, ensuring they are prepared in time for Exco or Credit Committee meetings
· Design and deliver fraud training courses to internal staff.
· Investigate the following: SARS raised by Valuer Panel Manager or Internal Staff, referrals raised by Support in respect to Broker Boarding, intelligence from Networks and other organisations.
· Assist Head of Credit in preparing project papers to expand lending proposition as and when required.
Experience required for the position of Credit Risk Specialist
· Current or historic buy to let underwriting experience is essential.
· Must have used fraud tools such as CIFAS, SIRA or Hunter
· Designing/delivering training would be desirable.
· Excellent written and verbal communication skills
· High attention to detail.
· Proven ability to exercise good commercial and professional judgment.
· Ability to adapt to ongoing change.
· PC literate with knowledge on Microsoft Office products.
· Must be enthusiastic and flexible.
· Willing to learn and develop a career.
