Overall Purpose

This position will be primarily responsible for assisting the CRO to ensure that the Credit & Operational risk control environment of the Bank and Business Continuity processes are in accordance with the Bank's and regulator's desired standard. The position will support the CRO in other risk controls and processes such as monitoring risk dashboards and metrics provided from other departments, e.g. Market Risk Dashboard, Liquidity Risk Dashboard, Conduct Risk Dashboard, Operations Metrics and Finance Metrics.

Key Accountabilities


To prepare credit analysis reports, where necessary, on the customers and counterparties of the Bank

To assist in the development and implementation of an effective credit risk management strategy across all business units

To assist in the development and implementation of an effective operational risk management strategy across all business units, including Risk and Control Self-Assessments (RCSA's)

To assist in the development and implementation of an effective business continuity plan (BCP) across all business units


To assist the CRO to oversee, in conjunction with other departments, an effective risk control reporting structure

To assist the CRO to oversee in conjunction with IT an effective BCP for the Bank

Support the end of day processes, working with IT and Operations.

Act as a central source to provide Bank MI and reports, working with IT and Operations


To assist in the implementation of all aspects of the credit and operational risk functions, including implementation of processes, tools and systems to identify, assess measure, manage, monitor and report risks.

To assist to ensure that the Bank has the proper credit risk operational controls, administrative and reporting procedures in place to effectively grow the organisation and to ensure financial strength and operational efficiency.

To assist the CRO in the development, review and implementation of risk policies, processes and procedures.

Any new product must be the subject of a report detailing the product characteristics, the target audience, and how the product will be monitored throughout its life. Approval of the product will be given by the Board.

Within their remit establish a culture of treating customers fairly based on the FCA's key drivers, namely: leadership strategy, decision making, controls, recruitments, training and competence.

To assist to ensure that the Bank has adequate IT Security controls. To be the keeper of passwords and to assist in setting access controls that avoid conflicts of interest, internal and external fraud and provide operational efficiency.

Assist the CRO with other risk related matters such as Market Risk, Liquidity Risk & Conduct Risk including preparation and oversight of the Risk Dashboards, Metrics & Risk Register.

To have ownership for the following operations:-

* Credit Risk Dashboard

* Credit Limit Ratings & Reviews process (working closely with the External Credit Reviews consultant)

* Operational Risk Incident Log

* IT Security Password Controls

* ICAAP Preparation

Person Specification

Knowledge (Special Training or Competence)

Hands-on credit analysis report production - minimum 1 year

Ability to analyse Management Information both qualitative and quantitative to provide accurate reporting of this analysis

University degree or equivalent in Banking, Finance, Accounting, Business Administration and or Professional qualification in Risk Management (desirable)

Ability to maintain risk data such as dashboards and registers for groups

Previous experience

Experience of credit analysis report production

Experience of assisting or working on ICAAP and ILAAP

Experience of assisting or working on RCSA's

Experience of working within the financial services industry, in a risk, compliance and or controls-related environment is preferable

Knowledge of regulatory requirements especially, not just limited to the FCA or PRA as appropriate for the role

Previous experience of credit risk within a regulated environment is desirable
