Credit Risk Analyst - Modelling

As a result of this growth and to take us from strength to strength, we are delighted to be able to offer a new opportunity to join Credit Risk within our Predictive Analytics team.
The Predictive Analytics team is a dynamic and exciting part of Credit Risk and undertakes quantitative modelling and analysis. The team is responsible for a number of functions such as IFRS 9 (impairment) and IRB (capital) model developments along with providing insights into customer and portfolio trends to substantiate business decisions. The team also support the model monitoring development along with developing the Society's application and behaviour scorecards.
You will be using technologies such as SAS (Enterprise Miner and Enterprise Guide) and Excel to conduct the analysis.

About You

The successful individual will join the Predictive Analytics team as a Credit Risk Analyst and will assist the team in the design, development and implementation of models, to meet regulatory and business requirements along with support in adhoc data analysis requests. The primary areas of focus for this role include (but are not limited to):

  • Model Development: Design and develop new compliant regulatory models to improve regulatory coverage and substantiate business information. This includes employing relevant statistical techniques to develop, validate and enhance risk models.
  • Data Validation and Analysis: Provide technical support to extract and transform internal and external data to enable further analysis. This will include writing and running SAS code to produce the data needed.
  • Model Monitoring: Support the model monitoring and make sure this is in line with standards and ensure that the model development plan is aligned to tracking results. This includes understanding the data and identifies key insights along with presenting the findings to others.
  • Business Intelligence: Build relationships with team members and across the business to ensure insights are shared and models are understood.

The successful candidate will have:
  • Strong quantitative degree (minimum 2.1) ideally from a Mathematics/Statistics/Physics/Economics or related subject
  • Math A-Level or equivalent
  • Experience with Microsoft Office
  • Experience using statistical software (SAS, SPSS or similar) would be an advantage
  • Experience working with data, analysing and making recommendations would be an advantage
The ability to communicate concisely and effectively is essential, as is a positive attitude towards co-operation and teamwork. You must be able to build and maintain internal and external relationships at all levels. The ideal candidate will also be able to demonstrate the following:
  • Proven ability to articulate and document technical concepts and analysis
  • Experience in communicating complex material to non-technical audience
  • Strong problem solving skills
You will be highly organised, efficient in your work and able to work with large amounts of technical and regulatory information.
You will take responsibility for the work assigned and deliver to agreed quality and timescales.
