Business Overview

BlackRock's Fundamental Fixed Income (FFI) business manages more than $1 trillion in global fixed income assets across index, actively managed, alternative, and liability driven investment strategies. The platform offers fixed income investors one of the industry's broadest array of investment solutions across model-based and fundamental investment styles.

Within FFI, the European ABS team is responsible for analysing new issues, secondary opportunities and existing exposures and managing European ABS strategies across BlackRock's fixed income portfolios and institutional clients' segregated mandates. The European ABS team is part of a Global Securitised team which combined has more than $80bn MV under management.

BlackRock is seeking a Vice President level credit research analyst to work in the European ABS team in London. The successful candidate will be part of a team where credit research and portfolio management work together to support and/or manage all European ABS classes including traditional ABS and corporate style securitisations (but excluding leveraged loan CLOs).

Key Responsibilities

The candidate will be responsible for:


  • Performing comprehensive credit and cashflow analysis across the full capital structure of European ABS transactions (predominately RMBS)

  • Undertaking analysis for both primary and secondary opportunities considering relative value and potential alpha generation

  • Analysing and reviewing transaction documentation

  • Reviewing underwriting and servicing of transaction originators and servicers. Participating in dealer roadshows and onsite due diligence

  • Communicating with transaction parties including arrangers and originators

  • Providing high quality credit opinions to be presented to the European ABS team and analytical support for regular updates to clients on positions

  • Assessing the ESG factors of a transaction and applying BlackRock's framework

  • Tracking issuer, asset class and industry trends


Experience and Qualiciations:

  • Considerable in-depth experience in the analysis of Residential Mortgage-Backed Securities. Experience with other asset classes is preferred

  • Understanding of the European ABS market and regulatory landscape

  • Excellent oral and written communication skills essential for presenting credit opinions internally and for communicating with clients and other market participants

  • Solid understanding of reviewing legal documents from a credit risk perspective

  • A strong work ethic with a team-focused approach. Comfortable working within a disciplined investment process using both quantitative and qualitative tools

  • Strong interpersonal skills with ability to build and develop internal and external networks

  • Highly numerate and analytical with advanced Excel and Intex knowledge

  • Bachelor's Degree, ideally in a quantitative subject
