A permanent Credit Controller position based in Leicester, working for a highly reputable organisation in the East Midlands.

My client is a well-branded and highly successful organisation based in the Leicester area. They operate within the Utilities, Energy and Retail sectors

In order to strengthen their team at a very busy time in their market, they have an immediate requirement to recruit a professional Credit Controller on a permanent basis.

The Credit Controller role will include a variety of duties including:

  • Effective credit control on business to business accounts, taking ownership for pursuing overdue debt on a portfolio of accounts
  • Rapport building and account management with key clients
  • Dealing with a high volume of inbound and outbound calls which will include Customer Service calls as well as credit control calls at peak times
  • Invoice query and account issue resolution
  • Setting payment plans and reduce outstanding and bad debt, requesting credit limit increases where appropriate
  • Authorising release of orders where credit limits have been exceeded or accounts have been placed "on stop"
  • Work towards and successfully hit collection targets and company KPIs
  • Perform ad hoc credit control, sales ledger and accounts administration
  • Weekly account reconciliations to minimise unallocated cash
  • Working on exceeded credit limit and on manual stops reports
  • Completing tasks in a timely manner in accordance with set deadlines


The successful candidate for the Credit Controller positions needs to have previous commercial knowledge and exposure to all aspects of credit control in a business to business environment.

You will need to be able to work towards targets in a pressurised environment, dealing with a high volume of customer accounts and associated call volumes

You must also be an excellent communicator both verbally and in writing in order to effectively resolve issues and build relationships, providing excellent service

Additional skills include:

  • Being a strong negotiator and possess excellent query resolution ability
  • The ability to make decisions within designated agreed levels of authority
  • Be Proficient in MS Outlook, Word & Excel
  • Team player and target driven
