Job Title/Grade: Senior Credit Controller (equivalent to g6)

Reporting to: Head of Financial Processing

Purpose of the post:

Reporting to the Head of the section, this contracted term post has the responsibility to maximise collection of all University outstanding income by the deadline of 30th September 2021.


Credit Control for both students and customers ledgers, maximizing the collection of debt.

Manage collection efforts by soft telephone, email or by referral to a third party collection agency.

Effective use of the diary system on QLX and ABW to manage notes, queries and reminders.

Respond to incoming queries from students and dealing with each contact in a professional and efficient manner.

Resolve student / sponsor queries promptly and accurately ensuring that the Financial and Tuition Fees regulations are adhered to and without losing focus on increasing cash collection and reducing debt.

Make critical, sometimes on the spot decisions, regarding the waiving of the re-enrolment regulations or the establishment of payment plans, in line with the department's financial targets.

Relevant HEI experience of at least 5 years in a Credit Control function on high volume ledgers of accounts. Excellent written and verbal communication skills are an essential, plus an ability to deal tactfully and diplomatically with a diverse range of customers. The ideal candidate will adopt a creative and adaptable approach to chasing debtors, and must be able to maintain performance under continuing pressure and deadlines.

Good IT systems knowledge - in particular Excel, and experience of working with a financial accounting system like ABW is desirable.

Excellent administration and self-start organisational skills, being able to work using your own initiative, whilst maintaining accurate attention to our financial controls and regulations.

Able to demonstrate an understanding of equality and diversity, and its practical application
