Credit Control Clerk

The Team: Our Finance team has a large part to play in the success of our business. Finance is split over Peterborough and London with our Shared Services and Corporate teams in Peterborough and our Commercial and Group Finance based in London. We are all one team and work together to create a positive, productive and highly efficient finance department within News UK.

Your Role:Your primary responsibilities are the management of assigned ledger(s) relating to Talksport UK, chasing and securing payment within agreed terms of business, reconciling agency accounts, with potential monthly visits to Talksport sales to discuss and reduce query levels. Raise manual invoices/credits where required. Receive incoming telephone calls and emails from customers/sales and providing regular reports to meet set targets, KPI's and deadlines

Day to day:

Ledger Management

  • Chase collection of outstanding payment from assigned Direct Customers/Agencies via telephone, e-mail and letter

  • Receive incoming calls and e-mails from sales teams and direct customers and agencies

  • Cash allocation and account reconciliation

  • Download statements into Excel and email to agencies monthly

  • Surface, investigate, and raise assigned agency account queries via manual query googledoc and chase sales for response within agreed SLA timescales

  • Action and record manual credit notes/re-invoices in line with authorisation approval as per set process and procedures

  • Raise manual invoicing for Third Party, and assist where required in the billing for International, Digital Multiplexes, and Self Bill customers

  • Maintain accurate customer records via customer comments and diary

  • Raise own journal amendments

Other Duties

  • Setting up of prepay and credit accounts as per company procedures

  • Approve / reject radio advertising via workflow delay queue, working to deadlines

  • Action customer amendment requests within SOX guidelines for customers

  • Provide Monthly Cash Flow forecast for assigned ledger

  • Provide Journal input/input cover

  • Raise and process assigned ledger refund requests

  • Monthly billing for assigned stations

What we're looking for from you:

  • Good understanding of Credit Control practises and procedures

  • Efficient and hardworking with ability to multitask

  • Good communication skills with the ability to provide high level updates to management

  • Ability to work under pressure and to tight deadlines

  • A good team player capable of flexibility

  • Self-motivated with proactive approach

  • Knowledge of SAP would be ideal but not essential
