Commercial Credit Partner - Real Estate & Private Banking

Our Credit Partners collaborate with our Relationship Managers, Business Development Directors, Team Heads and senior leaders to make sure we are making the most suitable lending decisions for our customers.

This role will focus on assessing /underwriting credit applications and related requests and making lending decisions - primarily for our existing Real Estate (Commercial & Residential - 'REF') and Private Banking customers, there will also be a chance to work on credit proposals for our new customers too and some from the wider Commercial teams.

So what would you be doing?...

• Working with our Commercial Banking teams - Particularly REF and Private Banking, our Central Credit Team and Heads of Credit and Commercial Underwriting, reviewing / assessing credit reports and underlying information and attending to every detail to make sure that we are providing a first class experience for our customers.

• Selectively meeting some customers (virtually or face to face where appropriate) to make sure we know exactly what their lending requirements are.

• Using your personal lending discretion to decide whether we lend the money or not, with a focus on our Real Estate & Private Banking customers.

• Risk Management of a relatively complex, but mature, Corporate / Commercial back book - and for selected origination opportunities across both Real Estate Investment and Development sub asset classes.

• Recommending and / or referring credit applications on to higher authority holders and Credit Committee.

• Building amazing relationships with your internal colleagues to provide our customers with a first class experience across all areas of Metro Bank.

• Understand the risks associated with your job and what that means for you, Metro Bank and all our stakeholders

• Underwriting and approving commercial banking deals. Your knowledge in previous roles means you will know what to look for, the questions to ask and in many cases relying on your judgment and instinct. We are a bank that uses humans to make decisions

• Undertake a competent credit application and underlying information review /underwrite and summary decision or recommendation covering all of the information needed.

• Answering any questions from the Heads of Credit & Commercial Underwriting and / or Credit Committee Members and preparing the papers to be presented at credit committee. You will also probably know about a range of different tenant industry sectors

• Spreadsheets, management information, administration, taking calls from colleagues and supporting some of theirs with customers - that sort of thing

• Experience of managing a delegated lending authority of c.£2.5million and /or above

• Knowledge of commercial lending within the Real Estate sector
