Accounts Assistant / Sales Ledger

We are a Electrical and Mechanical contractors company based in Tamworth , looking to recruit into our small accounts teams on a permanent basis.

Are you an experienced Sales Ledger / Accounts Assistant.

You will have experience of working in a busy finance team and will be looking to develop your existing skills, with a flexible, can-do attitude.

This is a full time & permanent position of 37.5 hours. Part time hours over 5 days can be discussed if required. Salary £20,000- £24,000 Depending on experience. 20 days holidays + Bank Holidays. Free parking .

Core Responsibilities

  • To enter all Sales Applications/Valuations accurately for payments on Eque2 Construction software.
  • To Raise Job numbers for new projects and enter their financial Information on software.
  • Keep a tracker for all applications to be issued in the current and future months.
  • Keep a tracker for all quotes issued on maintenance works to ensure these are receipted, invoiced, and paid.
  • Keep timely and firm communication with Commercial dept. and Project managers to ensure accurate flow of information.
  • To raise sales invoices and credit notes, checking mathematical accuracy and ensuring they are created accurately in line with contracts/orders.
  • Allocating receipts to the sales ledger accounts by reference to remittances received and as per applications and invoices.
  • Performing bank reconciliations every day on Sage Line 50 and identifying/resolving issues
  • Calculating rebates for wholesalers and chasing new agreements when asked
  • Chasing debtors for payments when required.
  • To verify subcontracts by the commercial director and issue signed copies back to subcontractors
  • Ensure invoices entered are matched to sales applications/valuations for payments
  • Accurately accounting for retention and discount on invoices and applications
  • To ensure company procedures and processes are followed and kept fully up to date
  • To produce weekly project reports on excel for project managers and directors.
  • Posting invoices to Sage line 50 and through Eque2 Construction
  • Generally assisting other departments and project managers as required
  • Raise journals when appropriate
  • Account reconciliations


  • Accountancy Qualification or Qualified by experience
  • SME background
  • Strong IT Skills, Excel, and Sage line 50 experience is desirable
